My perhaps unpopular opinion is that the reason why we have so many SMEs in Nigeria is because of unemployment. That's why many of them are unstructured, unscaleable and with wonky customer experiences. The owners are not necessarily passionate about business....

The real problem I have with infrastructural development in Nigeria is not just starting it, it’s the lack of maintenance that really bugs me. The thought of roads, drainages, street lights etc that are being used by thousands of occupants over years and decades, not having a

Hey @TonamiPlayman I made a little map of potential railway stations and lines in Nigeria. Would love to hear your thoughts about it and if there’s anything you’d change/improve on
So I remade my little visual aid of where I’d like to propose to build/renovate train stations in the South East, South South, North West and North Central zones

Also something I forgot to add, the towns that are in green font represent where the NYSC Orientation Camps are located. If NYSC is going to continue to be a thing and will have an influx of 2200+ people coming to camp about 3 times a year made sense to add a station

@Letter_to_Jack Because Lagos was not actually planned. Lagos is the only major city of it's size without a functioning metro system, several roadways blocked by residential estates and "maintenance" which should take place in weeks stretching for months.

We don’t have entrepreneurial spirit. We are just hustlers. Entrepreneurship requires planning, stratergy and execution. While hustling requires ‘do whatever you can to survive’ That is why when we move to a better clime all we are after is just is a better life.
I have spent years trying to debunk this. The entrepreneurial spirit Nigerians have quickly falters when we immigrate (ofcourse entrepreneurship in Nigeria is a little different than we are used to, but I digress), except around things that service other fellow Nigerians/Africans

Put together it looks something like this, you can clearly see the interconnectivity between the stations and also the high speed route from Kano to PH via Abuja (had to draw the Abuja to PH route pencil in this photo imagine it’s the colour red)

For analogous context, Madrid city built a 75km underground rail line with 39 stations for its metro in 4 years (1999–2003) at half the conventional costs. Do you know the logistical hell with doing underground in a populated metro area? We are not a serious country.
We have spent nearly $3 billion on city rail metros in Lagos and Abuja that do not work and have less than 10 stations (stops) collectively. 3 billion sweet Benjamins of American capitalism’s finest et crispiest notes wa iya zubillah!!! We are not a serious country.

If Lagos had a functional metro system, it would have neutralized much of the sting of fuel subsidy removal; But if you ask questions about the metro system, in a city where you pay taxes, and demand accountability from LASG - you will be told to "go back to Anambra".

Just add more busses to the existing underutilized BRT corridors. Opening BRT lanes to uncoordinated bus hailing platforms is a recipe for disaster. If this is the plan for transit is Lagos, then Lagos is forever screwed.
Here is my plan for Lagos - Open BRT lanes to bus hailing platforms, both private and public. As an Architect of the New Lagos from @MIT, I, Gbadebo assures you that it’s a very achievable plan cos I will do it. OUR LAGOS is here, a 24 hr productive city. Èkó E dìde!! ~GRV.

A version of voter suppression no one talks about in Nigeria is DIFFICULTY OF REGISTERING TO VOTE. Why isn’t it enough to register online on the INEC portal, and use any of your other national ID documents (passports, NIN or drivers license) as their means of identity to vote?

A few things @MetroLagos needs to do to make the most the the Lagos blue line once it goes into operation next year. 1. Get additional rolling stock ASAP even before starting construction of Phase 2.
