Let's be real
Tolkien reading The Ride of the Rohirrim with PJ's rendition playing in the background is T3 video on all of the interwebs
Enjoy this masterpiece as it cleanses your timelines
One thing I highly admire about
@joerogan
is his ability to listen to his guests.
There are times when he doesn't speak for 10 minutes because he is listening, processing, and understanding.
I think this is something we can all improve upon.
I know I can.
Do you ever notice that when people begin to get their life in order, they often start with lifting weights?
It creates discipline, sacrifice, and hard work.
A fantastic way to jumpstart a new life.
ICU nurse story time
The other week I took care of an incredibly sick man with a poor prognosis
He required 2 nurses 24hrs/day
He had been married 35+ years and his wife wouldn't leave his side
Over a couple days of caring for this man, it appeared he was making progress
When my wife agreed to marry me I was a delivery driver making $13/hr.
She married me when I had severe anger issues.
She stuck with me as I struggled to find my way.
The desire to provide and protect her has greatly contributed to the man I am today.
Women, tell your man that he's a good man.
Recently I cared for a patient who passed unexpectedly.
The wife, understandably, took it very tough. After he passed, I sat in the room and talked to her for 45 minutes.
I learned about their relationship and my patient as a man.
Wife looked all over the house for us before looking out of our window.
Didn't know she took this picture, but it's moments like this that I cherish.
One day she'll be too big for this, but it is not this day.
I will never forget this woman
I wish I had the opportunity to meet her husband without the ventilator/sedation and have a conversation with him
They were both special people
This story is a reminder that there is beauty in pain
Call me beta all you want
But when I look at my daughter and she smiles at me
I tear up
She is the fruit of my wife and my love
She is the most incredible little human I have ever seen
I can't wait to hear the words "I love you, daddy"
But until then I see it in her eyes
Don't get me wrong, I love having a muscular physique
But finding clothes that fit properly is a pain
32" waist, but massive quads and a large buttocks
Slim torso but wide shoulders and a large chest
Though socks do fit just fine
I'm not gonna lie, it's hard to be a sole provider in this day and age.
We moved 1800 miles away from all family and all friends except one couple.
It's difficult to budget and live within our means.
We don't have fancy cars or the newest iPhones.
BUT
Every time I see my
There are still good people in this world.
Yesterday I found an old time barber shop.
I walk in, the gentleman jumps out of the chair, spins it around, and has me take a seat.
Fantastic cut. Quick and efficient.
I get up to pay, pull my card out, and he says "oh sorry, we
@EM_RESUS
I've saved docs many a time when they order something on the wrong patient.
If it doesn't make sense, always question.
At the end of the day the patient is more important than any ego or fear of confrontation.
Hey gym regulars, I'm talking to you here.
I know it can be annoying when all of the resolutioners show up at once.
But let's encourage these people to stick with it.
Let's create a supportive environment that helps then turn their resolution into a lifestyle.
We got this.
The impact of a father can have multigenerational impacts.
A good father teaches
- Sons how to value women
- Daughters how to value themselves
A good father provides, protects, loves, and leads.
Shout-out to my father and all of the other good fathers out there!
Wife appreciation post:
Today is our 4th wedding Anniversary and I love this woman more today than the day we got married
The amount of growth, friendship, and love that has happened in 4 years is incredible
I am a blessed man to have this woman as by my side
Pregnant wife hears me puking, comes to help, starts gagging, and rushes back out.
Comes back two minutes later with a cool wash cloth to put on my neck.
Find a woman who will still care for you even at her own expense (it's a two way street).
As we parted she gave both my coworker and myself a giant hug and said
"God puts some people in our lives for but a moment, I am glad he put you two in my life during this one."
@ChivalryGuild
People often say that he got bogged down in the details.
However, if you're willing to take the time to appreciate the wordplay he uses, you quickly realize how much of a master he was at writing.
He created images with words.
With a deep breath in, the bar becomes heavy in the hands.
All that was once loud becomes silent, the vision narrows.
All stress, anxiety, and frustration dissipate, the weights leave the floor.
You have one monster to overcome, the one of the mind.
The deadlift.
You know you're getting older when you can deadlift 500 lbs without any back pain
But you sleep in a slightly odd position and it's a two day process to feel normal again
I may not be the strongest person in the room (though I can hold my own).
But
I have spent the last 3 years perfecting my craft.
Countless hours spent in the gym.
Meticulous review of my own technique and coaching others.
Here's what I've learned 👇
Quick story time for those that don't know.
The summer of my senior year of high school I had bilateral hip surgeries.
The left hip at the end of April and the right at the end of June.
I was a rather promising hockey player with a decent chance of playing D1 somewhere.
@TheMFingCOO
@MarcLobliner
I work in an ICU. The goal is always to stay as full as possible.
People don't understand that hospitals are businesses the same as any place.
She told me, "you read your daughter this book and tell her that her daddy took great care of the author's husband and of the author. That she has a great daddy."
This woman, again, was more worried about us than herself
Her strength was incredible
More steps
More water
More protein
Weights 3x/week
Cardio 2x/week
Understand baseline calories
It's not easy but it is simple
When will you start taking charge of your life?
345 moved like 🧈
Always easier to hit a PR when training with my brother and dad.
First opportunity for us to train together in a year. Always my favorite time at the gym.
Easy and unfulfilling
- Cheap sex
- Videogames
- LARPing on the internet
- Binge watching every Netflix show
- Hating on others
- Fast food
Difficult and fulfilling
- Being married
- Reading a boom
- Being genuine
- Strength training
- Being kind
- Healthy eating
Do you ever finish your squat warm up, look at the bar, and think "damn this is gonna be tough"
Then take a second, recenter, and crush the weight?
10/10 would recommend.
I missed the whole
@Avalanche
game last night until overtime.
Reason being, my daughter decided to enter the world.
Holding her in my arms for the first time and watching the Kadri game winner is a memory of a lifetime.
What a fun story to tell her one day.
"The Nazgûl came again, and as their Dark Lord now grew and put forth his strength, so their voices, which uttered only his will and his malice, were filled with evil and horror...At length even the stout-hearted would fling themselves to the ground as the hidden menace passed
Yesterday that same coworker called me over, handed me a package (he was holding an identical one), and said "I was waiting for you, let's open these."
It was a copy of her book, signed to my daughter.
Today I get to read that book to my daughter.
Today I was told at work that I am a "high maintenance man"
A couple weeks back a doc I didn't know asked a co-worker "who's Abercrombie?"
Reasons given:
- My hair is professional for work each day
- I shower > 3x/week
- I wear well fitting clothes
The bar is low, my friends
I care about my health too much to continue working night shift.
It's simply an unhealthy lifestyle.
Caffeine to stay up, Benadryl to sleep through the day, and an average of 6hrs of sleep.
It's not sustainable for the life I want to live.
Last week I tweaked my back deadlifting.
Couldn't hardly put socks on for 3 days.
Today I pulled 455 for two easy singles without any pain.
I deadlifted 3x this past week with submaximal, pain free reps.
Always keep moving.
I always take my ring off prior to lifting in the basement.
Today the wife joined me.
When I got upstairs and went to put my ring on, this is what I saw.
Something poetically beautiful about it.
