Port Augusta and regional South Australia are filled with the cheapest and most sustainable form of energy – renewables. Mr Dutton wants to replace that with the most expensive form of energy – nuclear. All right on the doorstep of our unique and precious Flinders Ranges.

The proposed site in Port Augusta is not even available, because it’s being repurposed as a green concrete and cement plant by the Hallet Group.

This thought bubble of a policy is too slow - even by Mr Dutton's impossible timeframe the first reactor won't be online for 13 years. Mr Dutton's plan is also too expensive - the evidence shows nuclear is the most expensive form of power.

Port Augusta is the gateway to the Flinders Ranges, and to the spectacular outback – and Peter Dutton wants to build a nuclear power plant there. Mr Dutton's announcement this morning had no detail, no costing - and not even an indication of how much power would be generated.

This week, @tanya_plibersek announced Australia’s first national Environment Protection Agency. The EPA will deliver stronger powers and penalties to protect the environment, more information and greater transparency to the public.
