President Carter was a man of unquestionable honor & integrity. From his time as a Navy midshipman to his years providing leadership from the White House, his life was defined by service. I know his legacy will live on with the good & necessary work of the @CarterCenter.

The Water Resources Development Act just passed the Senate 97-1. I'm grateful to all my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their work getting this legislation to the finish line, and I thank @SenCapito for naming it in my honor.

It’s hard to describe the kind of friend John was. When we were both Congressmen, he introduced me to Martha. We were married four months later, he gave me my best friend. John was kind, witty, & willing to work across the aisle. He taught me many things & will be dearly missed.

Twelve years ago today, 26 lives were tragically taken from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. As elected officials, we have a moral obligation to end gun violence in this country. We must work together to find solutions and build a safer nation for all Americans.
