I was honored to attend a briefing at @duqedu today to learn about how the University is revitalizing the uptown community and about the plans for the new Health Sciences building.

I was happy to join Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 12 & Sheet Metal Workers Local 19 in hosting my colleagues from the PA Senate & House. We toured SSM Industries, Inc to see how important skilled labor, apprenticeship programs, and advanced fabrication are to our communities.

It is a perfect evening to celebrate a place voted one of the best to raise a family in PA! Enjoy Community Day at Knob Hill Park in ‘Naturally Connected’ Marshall Township. Fireworks are at 9:15.

It’s that time of year again. Another great @SouthFayetteTwp Community Day where I get to eat good food and catch up with good friends.

It was awesome seeing everyone come out to the Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company bike parade and pancake breakfast! Congratulations to the winners of the bike decorating competition!

I was really happy to join the @PAStatePolice, @camp_cadet, and @Macys for this morning’s ‘Shop With A Cop’ event at South Hills Village. In-need students from several districts had a back-to-school shopping spree with officers from 11 area departments. Thanks to all!

Our students need a break from distraction so they can focus on learning. I was happy to sit with US @RepDeluzio, teachers, students, and parents at @sewickleypublib to discuss the pros & cons of cellphones in class. I am the prime sponsor of the Phone-Free Schools Proposal.

Great news for our community! The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority has provisionally awarded $1.5M to expand broadband access in Allegheny County to help connect unserved and underserved households, schools, and businesses. Read more here:

After 10 yrs of planning, negotiation, and construction, the Montour Trail Council officially opened the Muse Branch near the McConnell Trails development in Cecil Twp. Muse Branch follows the former 1.6 mile spur that the old Montour Railroad once used to service a coal mine.
