When our men and women leave the service, the contrast between military structure and civilian life is night and day.
We must do more for them as they navigate this transition; it's the least we can do to thank them for their service.
As the son of a teacher, I can tell you firsthand how dedicated our educators are to their students. This Teacher Appreciation Day, I want to offer a huge thank you to all of Maine's teachers for their work educating & supporting our children. Be sure to

From Togus to the new Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Presque Isle I visited last week, the professionals at Maine’s VA facilities deliver high-quality care to our veteran community.
@SecVetAffairs
and I commended their work in yesterday’s Senate Veterans' Affairs hearing.
With many young Maine people struggling with mental health and food insecurity, I'm proud to have helped My Place Teen Center secure $650K to construct its Biddeford center — helping create a safe & supportive space for teens & children seeking help.
Local news is an essential public service that keeps Maine people across our state connected and informed. More than ever, we must work to support and preserve our local newsrooms. 📰📻📺
I was honored to attend the grand opening of the VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Presque Isle. This new facility brings modern technologies and expanded access to health care in Aroostook County so we can keep serving our veterans close to home.
The recently-passed budget bill funds the federal government while investing in key civic projects across Maine. From tackling youth homelessness to upgrading infrastructure, these dollars will make a big difference for communities all across our state.
As the state with the most forest coverage, Maine has deep cultural and economic roots in our expansive forests. I am proud to join
@SenatorRisch
in recognizing the 152nd Arbor Day to honor environmental stewardship and to maintain our forests for years to come.

Tonight, on Passover, we ask the question: Why is this night different than all other nights? This night reminds us of the Jewish people’s resilience and triumph over great adversity.
From my family to yours, Chag Pesach Sameach! 🫓✡️
From our rocky coasts to our pine forests, Maine's natural beauty always shines.
Today, as we celebrate
#EarthDay
, let us recommit to being stewards of Maine's environment — creating a cleaner, more sustainable tomorrow for future generations to enjoy. 🌎
Affordable and accessible childcare is critical for working families and good for businesses. I'm excited to have helped secure $831K to expand childcare for seasonal workers in Washington County — providing certainty for parents and Maine's economy.
Traumatic brain injuries are an invisible wound carried by too many of our men and women in uniform — endangering their health, and also the safety of their loved ones and communities. I urged the Army Secretary to protect and care for those who serve.
Tomorrow, we kick off
#NationalParkWeek
with free admission to any National Park across the country!
Come celebrate America's best idea and our nation's natural treasures — all the way from
@AcadiaNPS
to out west. 🌲

Deterrence alone is not enough to combat terrorist organizations intent on harming innocent civilians.
In a SASC hearing, I made clear we must prioritize technology that detects when terrorist organizations or cells acquire nuclear weapons.
UPDATE: Maine nonprofits & local governments now have one week to apply for FY2025 Congressionally-Directed Spending. This is a great opportunity to secure federal funding for Maine projects. The deadline is Wednesday, April 24 at 6 PM.

Everyone deserves access to quality, affordable care when health issues arise. Thank you to the Maine Hospital Association and our hospital leaders for sitting down to discuss how we can combat workforce shortages and ensure every Maine person gets the care they need.
