Big news out of the @Arm and @Cambridge_CL collaboration today as Arm announced its experimental CHERI-enabled Morello processor and development board is now available for testing. #FreeBSD played an essential role in bringing this technology to life.

After some experimenting and (with one mesa trick from @linux4kix) the xfce4 desktop runs on the unmodified latest @freebsd 14-CURRENT snapshot. So arm64 (CN913x CEx7 Eval Board) with ACPI + AMD GPU + bunch of standard packages proved to work just fine altogether.

Thanks to our recent work ( https://t.co/cqkhefi2mL, https://t.co/kLGfXzT9rh, https://t.co/crABfluAM1), the stack gap information can be properly passed from @freebsd kernel to the user space. This should hopefully pave the way to enable the ASLR feature by default in HEAD

Nice outcome of @Semihalf internship program - FreeBSD has just recently gained ability to parse ACPI's _DSD. In other words it's now very easy to handle DT/ACPI properties with the same generic code - result: @MarvellTech SoCs' SD/MMC controller working with ACPI in HEAD.

Just WOW! All-upstream @solid_run MacchiatoBin firmware (by @Semihalf) was capable to handle Windows 11 (version 22000.168) install out of the box... NATIVELY! GPU (GT630 via EFI Frame Buffer), SATA SSD, network (USB2ETH), mouse & keyboard.
