As for whether this should be taxed: setting fire to this much money to buy education is a vice of striving middle class people the world over so yes we should punitively tax it until they do something more useful with their money than giving it to teachers.

Education is mostly signalling, your children are going to turn out fine, and they will thank you much more for the £200k that buys half their first flat than they will ‘that sense of self’ which doing extracurriculars 5 times a week gets you.
Honestly theses institutions are just totally unsympathetic. £11.5k to teach a 9 year old to do sums? Near £100k to do A levels? They’re just scamming status obsessed middle class people and Chinese students, why should this be tax free.

No education is mostly credentialing nonsense and nobody cares if you can read Latin so this is not a public good unless you vastly overestimate how interesting you are.
Because education is a merit good, its consumption has positive externalities for the rest of society, they provide competition with the state sector, utilise human capital unavailable to the state sector & save the taxpayer £8,500 per year per pupil.

Something very sad about hundreds of years of history and tradition going up in smoke. It's happening all over the country as far more children are forced to move than Labour predicted. AND Phillipson is junking 30+ years of reforms that improved state schools to boot. Ugh.

The Online Safety Act’s initial implementation now means that everyone too lazy to upload their ID to Social Media will see no images of police arresting protesters, children in Gaza dying of starvation, or anything the government censors. Obviously it was not about n*ked women.
