What is our responsibility as scientists when our findings are ignored and our warnings disregarded? At the Public Forum, after several talks and discussion, we concluded: Given the scale and urgency of the climate crisis, „science as usual“ is not an option.
Public Forum: “Science on Trial – Legitimacy, Responsibility, and Climate Action” Date: 17 Nov, 13:30-16:00 Location: Munich, Theresienstr. 41 / C 113 This event brings together researchers, activists, and citizens to discuss the moral and societal boundaries of climate action.

On Monday, scientists from France were on trial in Munich for a peaceful protest in 2022. Lauranne was acquitted, while Manua, Marceau, Hugo, Jerome and Sylvain were sentenced to hefty fines. The people and companies responsible for the ongoing ecocide continue to escape justice.

Future generations will look back in disbelief: We're witnessing the greatest catastrophe in human history unfold – fully knowing what's coming – and yet, most of us do nothing. Why are you still silent, still sitting at home, when everything is at stake? https://t.co/Qbn7qPDzgi

Much was discussed at the Scientists Responsibility Summit, but one thing became clear: We cannot let traditional notions of "academic neutrality" prevent us from fighting for truth and justice. "You go on with your science as usual. They go on with their business as usual."

As the repression for speaking the truth continues, so do our actions. The trials will be held in Paris (Oct 10th) and Munich (Oct 7th). If you can, go to any of the support actions. If you want to support financially, donate to Scientists On Trial: https://t.co/evMdlGarnO 3/3
