@mayorofhackney.@carowoodley.said there is “no statutory requirement for councils to provide children’s centres”. Sounding the nonsense klaxon 🚨 @hackneycouncil provides PLENTY OF SERViCES BEYOND ITS STATUTORY DUTIES. Disingenuous to imply that as a basis for this decision.

Hours and hours spent campaigning. some of us whilst we were at home taking unpaid or low paid maternity leave to care for our young babies. Sad state of affairs, not least given Hackney is supposed to be a 'Child-Friendly Borough' and feminist @carowoodley @mayorofhackney.
Thinking about two rounds of campaigning by #Hackney residents to stop the closure of Children’s Centres. So many time-poor parents & carers out leafleting, demonstrating , fighting, not giving up. Will @hackneycouncil @carowoodley finally listen & stop threatening our nurseries?
