Thanks so much to my coauthors Juan Ramirez, @wc82rish, @IralaDolores, and @c_eroglu as well as all of the people in the Eroglu lab and beyond that tested SynBot. This wouldn't have been possible without all their help.

SynBot is an open-source program written in the ImageJ macro language, making it easy to modify within FIJI without extensive programming experience. This will allow users to customize the program to their experimental needs.

SynBot is also rapidly reproducible since it records the threshold values used in its analysis and can then load these values to reanalyzed images.

We tested SynBot in analyzing synapses in cultured neurons and in mouse brain tissue sections. SynBot performed equally well when compared to previous methods, required less user input, and recorded more data from each image.

SynBot automates many of the steps of this analysis and can be combined with the machine-learning program ilastik for fully-automated analyses.

Super proud of my undergrad Medy Mu who presented a great poster on her work in the summer neuroscience program from @DukeNeuroMajor. Congrats to all the summer students who presented, it was one of the most interesting poster sessions I've been to.
