It’s kind of disappointing because some of the artistic recreations of these palaces are gorgeous
This is a big issue I see! They assume people from 1,000+ years ago were cavemen and had dirty, crumbling architecture, when that’s just what Hollywood has said. Imagine taking your house out of context 1,000 years later and assuming our generation lived in torn down houses.
