Two years ago, the lives of Israeli families were changed forever. 48 hostages are still being held in life-threatening conditions, thousands have not yet returned to their homes, and many are still dealing with loss, pain and uncertainty.

Since May 27, the Red Cross Field Hospital in Rafah has treated over 4,500 weapon-wounded patients, most of whom said they were reaching food distribution sites when injured. It is unacceptable that people are being injured and killed while trying to feed their families.

On Thursday, the Red Cross Field Hospital received 17 wounded women, with 2 declared dead on arrival. Those responsive said they had been trying to access distribution sites. The situation in Gaza is appalling. People cannot continue to live like this. More can & must be done.

Today, a staff member at the Red Cross Field Hospital was injured by a stray bullet. Thankfully, he is stable and undergoing further treatment. This incident is unacceptable, and a reminder of the dangers civilians, medical staff, and patients experience every day in Gaza.
