When @CraigS_Thomas and I spoke to our Gen Z focus groups earlier this year, we were delighted by the interest in and care for historic houses (and heritage more broadly) they showed. Always lovely to see positive headlines that show exactly this! 👇 https://t.co/bDJEpsVZ0q

Something to warm the hearts of all those who like a gentle walk, a warm scone, a kindly atmosphere and a nice sit down: the young people are coming. National Trust heartened by surge in young members https://t.co/1qRPUAN8lv

On Friday some of the @Historic_Houses team got to see the new roof restoration project at Blenheim Palace. The project includes the restoration of paintings in the Saloon & Great Hall. It was fascinating to hear what the Blenheim team has found assessing the 300-year-old roof!

Thoughts from @Historic_Houses' @SarahRoller8 on why "Imposing planning fees on listed buildings would be a huge mistake" - and a call for use of the listed building consent order mechanism for certain routine, reversible changes. https://t.co/CLXqXRWOW1

The planning application is free at present — scrapping this perk would discourage the preservation of some beautiful properties

This evening’s @nationaltrust Octavia Hill lecture was all about connection - and really, it was also about communication. Having grown up very close to the Amesbury Archer, tonight I felt truly excited about him for the first time. Thanks @theAliceRoberts!

The idea that London is a 24hr city is literally laughable. (I would like it to be a 24hr city, I love 24hr cities, let’s fix literally everything in the tweet below and maybe we’ll be heading in the right direction!)
@LouisStaples money laundering shops, lack of policing, lack of pedestrianisation, lack of late night licensing, overzealous nimbyism and pandering to the complaints of people who live in a city centre, high rents, high business rates, luxury flat developments over business etc.

Casa Gilardi - supposedly Luis Barragán’s final house - in all its glory on a beautiful sunny February morning. It’s still a private home, and the money from tours has been ploughed into restoring it, and keeping it looking tip top (sounds familiar??)

Hedingham Castle - a 12th century Norman keep, where you can not just have dinner, but relax in a bath whilst watching Netflix? (And spend the night, if you’re not easily spooked.) VERY fun. What you can do with an old building when you put your mind to it! 🏰
