Lansdowne 1.0 was a disaster for subcontractors - SMEs suffered, had to lay off staff, went bankrupt. Yet @ottawacity continues to pay this partner with public funds. Where is the accountability to be better via procurement? @oagottawa @natgougeon 1/2

A must-read on the invaluable role of public libraries to communities, by @picardonhealth In any town or city, a library is the most welcoming public space, with key services for anyone & everyone

‘The only thing you absolutely have to know is the location of the library.” Albert Einstein spoke these words almost a century ago, but they are as true as ever. While Einstein was primarily...

“No one gets a pass… Nothing is more important than tackling climate change …(but) you have to do the work.” @cathmckenna pulls no punches speaking at @Canada2020 She doesn’t want Canada to miss the opportunities — a great advocate for the future we need.
Looking forward to speaking at @Canada2020 today. A lot to say about climate, net zero, pricing & affordability. See you there!

Unbelievable that Canada hasn't yet banned assault-style firearms. Yet how many people assume this promise was actually delivered? Time to fix Bill C-21.
While #C21 contains important measures, it doesn’t deliver on @JustinTrudeau’s repeated election promises to ban assault-style firearms. By finally delivering on #ban, @liberal_party can improve the public’s assessment of gov & pm’s leadership

“Telling stories of our climate futures is essential to thinking through the net-zero choices of today.”

The power of storytelling to help inform our decisions is underappreciated and of vital importance in envisioning a better future, and the steps to take to get us there.

If you're going to raise your hand & say you're a climate leader, you need to do the work. In Canada, too many businesses - especially oil and gas & banks - say they're committed to #netzero but aren't doing the minimum that is clearly required. Huge risks & missed opportunities.
I was pretty blunt at @GlblCtzn about how we need business to be real on #netzero - and held accountable. We need to ensure that everyone who cares about climate can reward the leaders by choosing to work for them, buy from them, invest w/ them. That's why clear standards matter.

When one thinks of a ban, one expects it to apply across the board. Now & in future. This is *not* that ban. Those weapons will continue to be out there. People will continue to harm & kill others with them. Government failed here and failed Canadians. That is sad & wrong.

Canada will not be banning assault-style weapons that are currently available. “It’s a betrayal,” says @Polysesouvient about government amendments to Bill C-21. Those changes mean a ban will only apply to future guns, after the bill becomes law. 1/2

Gordon Lightfoot’s music will live on. It is a pure Canadian gift! Yet the man and musician shall be missed. So glad to have seen him here last September.
