How did trilobites mate? In one species, Olenoides serratus, the males likely used claspers to grasp the female in a little hug https://t.co/y3i2aZgTQU Research by @SarahLosso1 and @InvertebratePal

I'm very excited to share our new paper studying a unique specimen of Olenoides serratus from the Burgess Shale! @InvertebratePal and I showed how these specialized appendages could be used by an adult male to grasp onto a female during mating https://t.co/0hpEUZ8nMD

So proud of the work these students have done over the summer! And more to come!
#MCZinvertpaleo undergrad researchers presented their work today! Jackson Kehoe investigated the relationship between #trilobite pygidium and thorax size, while @MaddiWaskom identified the body position of trilobite fossils on glass slides by comparing them with #CTscan sections.

I swear watching videos of elephants swimming is actually preparation for my upcoming introduction to paleontology course for the Pre-College program. Totally not a distraction.

To academics who are silent right now.. your future students are watching and wondering if you are too uncomfortable to post or RT anything now, will you be too ‘uncomfortable’ to stand up for them. I know it’s awkward. I know because I lived it. #BlackLivesMatter

Despite the just switching to remote classes and students now having to present on Zoom, one of our students just did the most awesome presentation I have ever seen! It was puppet show about trilobite eggs ! I am so impressed and proud 😁 @InvertebratePal @Thomashegna
