Still doing work in digital care tech for NHS and councils. Also training to be a Death Doula. This used to be my NHS account.
Joined December 2019
Today I realised that all the digital/IT teams that have supported their orgs to get their staff working from home have not only kept their staff safe but helped to flatten the curve and that is incredible #BigUpDigitalTeams

The wonderful @NHS_Jane invited me onto her podcast to talk all things death and death doula. Jane described the experience as deeply uplifting and energising so hope you do too. Link here or below

HELP! Who do I know who is doing good stuff around End of Life Care/ Policy in the NHS? I need in. My Death Doula course was indescribably amazing and I need to connect into other people doing amazing stuff in this space.

💡 This week I saw a post about valuing hierarchy over efficiency and I realised this is the NHS! We’re SO busy prioritising processes and communications etc that maintain the hierarchy that we can’t be efficient. IT MADE EVERYTHING MAKE SENSE.

Are any ICS’ starting to look at/ think about the Digital Switchover and linked in with their local authorities to work on it?

Anyone out there in ICS or Council land doing good joined up stuff around inclusion, telecare, digital switch over etc. Seems to be good stuff in each area but nothing looking holistically across them all.

Lots of chat on here today about the ‘lack of evidence’ for #SocialPrescribing, following the publication of yet another study, so I thought I would make a few, hopefully obvious, points…

Yay for @SamIngram3 being on the panel. You’ll rock it Sam!
Join this esteemed panel on Day 1 of HETT as we explore and showcase how XR technologies are already making a difference in healthcare. Excited to see them discuss the potential for much more impact on our patients and staff, health and training. #HETT22

This news won’t make Back to School headlines today, but it ought to be everywhere: Under this gov, a child born on 5th September 2006 can, if taken into care tonight, be placed in a hostel, caravan/barge with no guaranteed adult supervision. And their 15-year classmate, who is

He said he would and he did. Well done @thmswebb and @Ethicalhealthuk team for showing other consultancies that you can be in this game without being greed driven shysters who don’t give two hoots about the NHS 💪🏻
We're delighted to announce that we've donated 50% of our profits (£58,000) to 13 charities. Ethical was founded to be a force for good & thanks to our clients we exceeded last year's expectations. We'll be giving to these charities selected by Team Ethical... #EthicalByNature🧵

I can’t lie. I couldn’t get to the end. It’s so heart breaking and rage inducing and it ends with a young girl dying needlessly. The lack of accountability and sincere apologies just piles on the mistakes already made. A must read for consultants who’s egos rule their world.

The wider issue is the toxic culture. As someone who’s had to manage Dr rotas before, I felt totally alone and like it was on me personally to fill the rota gap. It was ridiculously stressful. It’s not ok for people to feel this desperate that they would ask that of a Dr.

But she still said it and wanted to do it. The public sector doesn’t even need to riot it just needs to leave on time very damn day.
Aaaaand it's dead. Liz Truss spox: “Our hard-working frontline staff are the bed rock of society and there will be no proposal taken forward on regional pay boards for civil servants or public sector workers.”

I fear it won’t as seen by multiple ICS’s who have downgraded digital leaders from exec level to non-board members (a huge mistake IMO while we are still so digitally immature in the NHS) and do not have plans for CCIOs within the ICS.
.@DHSCgovuk .@NHSEngland created the post of #NHS #CCIO following @Bob_Wachter Review with support from Ministers, @mswindells & driven by @hssood. Was an important junction for #clinicalsafety #digitalhealth #leadership. As we enter a chaotic period will this role survive? 1/15

And obviously all in a way that is inclusive (digitally and more broadly).

I don’t believe the issue people not wanting to attend. I think NHS processes mean people can’t chose times they can do, ask for times they can do and/ cancel and rearrange for times they can do. Also, 100% will disproportionately impact those already excluded.
