It was an incredible honor to be sworn in today as the next City Councilwoman of District 20. I'm humbled by the trust my fellow voters have placed in me and excited to continue working alongside my neighbors to ensure that our community is one where everyone can and will thrive.

Homecare nurses are the backbone of Centerlight Healthcare. However, management has turned their backs on nurses and unlawfully cut off their healthcare benefits on Dec. 30. It's time Centerlight reinstates nurses' healthcare and delivers a fair contract now!

The federal government also needs to stop playing games with our neighbors. Congress has to pass a budget that includes replacement funds, and families are left wondering if they will get this assistance every time a budget fight happens which now happens every few months.

One simple fix would be for the state to pass legislation requiring that EBT cards switch to chip technology, the same as our credit cards. Chips make skimming far more difficult. Legislation exists for this on the state level and I urge them to pass it.
