We frequently hear talk of adult practice which is:. Child-friendly.Child-centred. Child-first. Sometimes this is confused with children's rights. We've provided some examples of what is NOT rights based practice. But, if young people have no say, you're not talking rights.

So excuse me if I don’t buy the soundbites and the marketing whenever there’s a major event. Or get frustrated with organisations who claim to speak for us. Nothing has improved in ten years. And I’m very, very tired 😴 . #enoughisenough

I’ve been in multiple environments where the challenges faced by being a female coach are simply not acknowledged. Seen a total lack of curiosity or engagement on these issues by those with the power to change the environment. 4/.

There’s no space owned by women to share our voices. Just spaces created by those who purport to speak for us. I’ve had abuse thrown at me. Had to fund my own support. Been told my views are not wanted. Been told I have no right to be in the men’s game. 3/.

I’ve still never seen another female coach in the 11v11 game at youth or men’s. In ten years. So many times I’m asked questions that would never be asked if I was a man. Women’s achievements are not recognised as they would be with male coaches. 2/.

In the excitement over the Euros, I’ve been reflecting on women in the game even more over the last month. When I was a girl, we were banned from playing formal football. This is never really acknowledged or apologised for. 1/.

Why do discussions about children’s rights in football always end up being about what adults want to see happen with children’s football?. It would be easier to understand that these are different things if we start seeking and listening to the views of young people.

Imagine if women in football could be seen as coaches. Imagine if we were not the subject of abuse. Imagine if we weren't accused of somehow inviting the abuse just by being. Imagine if our efforts and commitment were recognised. Imagine if our voice was valued.

We've taken play away from kids. Adults see it as of no value (or worse we've heard it described as a 'treat' like chocolate). We even have to call it "free play" to distinguish it from being coached - constantly. Being coached is being coached. Play is play.

"You don't have to take this crap .You don't have to sit back and relax .You can actually try changing it ". It really is our choice. Comfort ourselves with "change takes time" from inside the system. Or just be that change.

Currently, human rights are under relentless attack. Let's not pretend that its because rights represent "weakness". Rights hold power to account. They expose uncomfortable truths. They challenge vested interests. It's up to each of us. Which side are you on?

In youth football, are we prepared to think / act differently? See the system for what it is, a construct built for an economic purpose. A business model. If we want change, then build a different system. If we’re not brave enough to acknowledge that, we’ll change nothing.

Why is the sports sector awash with consultancies . Work for a sports organisation or governing body. Freelance with your own consultancy and sell your services back to them. And then label yourself an imagineer, change-maker, disruptor etc. Meanwhile in the real world.

During summer, many approach us for places at the club. We're always very clear about what we do. We're a club for children who want to PLAY football. Not for parents looking for "football skills" or "classes". Everyone gets to play. But YOU'VE got to want to PLAY!

True or false. "We don't produce enough players because training has become too formal. We need space for individualists. We have to bring street football back to clubs, create more space for creativity and the pleasure of our players.". Oliver Bierhoff.

Some very sad news to bring you. Liverpool and Portugal footballer Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva have died in a car crash in Spain. Our thoughts are with their family and friends.
