New: There were at least 206 illicit drug deaths in B.C. in April – almost 7 deaths a day. In first four months of 2023, 814 people dead. 70% aged 30 to 59, 77% were male. Eight youths. "No indication that prescribed safe supply is contributing to unregulated drug deaths."

BC Emergency Health Services paramedics responded to 33,654 overdose/drug poisoning calls in 2022 – avg 2,800 calls/month. That is a 75% increase from 2016, when public health emergency was declared.
