Yesterday, we gathered the CSI teams in Dorset for a CPD event. The day was full of lots of interesting and useful inputs. The team tested different methods of recovering footwear impressions in sand, wet and dry, which was a challenge but had some great results!

The A420 was closed between West Street and the Lawrence Hill roundabout to allow crime scene investigators to examine the scene but has since reopened overnight. A cordon remains in place in Rawnsley Park.

There's now 5 FSVs across the @SW_Forensics forces, providing much needed welfare facilities for our CSIs. They all have an office, kitchen with microwave, kettle and fridge, toilet, WiFi, heating and a touchscreen TV monitor. We've seen our van design pop up elsewhere too! 👀🚐
From conversion company to crime scenes. Today marks the collection of the 4th and 5th Forensic Support Vehicles for deployment across the South West Forensics region. These high quality vehicles will be supporting CSIs and forensic colleagues at major and serious scenes 🫡

We celebrated the remarkable career of Forensic Co-ordinator Jon today as he embarks upon retirement after an astonishing 43 years on the front line of policing. A huge loss to South West Forensics, but we’re delighted for Jon and wish him all the very best.

A 70-year-old man has been arrested as part of a murder investigation. The arrest follows the death of a woman in her 50s at a holiday park in Brean yesterday (Wednesday 25 October). Read more here:
