As we take a sigh of relief, let us not forget the lessons learned. Our health systems are not secure we must rebuild better. Surgical systems were the back bone of pandemic response we must invest in strengthening them. Celebrate spring but remember winter is inevitably coming.
Yesterday, the #COVID19 Emergency Committee met for the 15th time and recommended to me that I declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern. I have accepted that advice. With great hope I declare COVID-19 over as a global health emergency.

This landmark WHO resolution WHA68.15 CANNOT be delayed. Nearly 300,000 women worldwide die from childbirth and obstructed labor! Countless disabilities and lack of access to Safe Surgery, Obstetrics and Anesthesia. We need Global investment! WHO needs to pursue this resolution
