Otherwise 5-10 years from now they will just be a star on the map in Texas, which I know is valuable but there are several Texas based Universities ahead of them in athletics (some by a wide margin) so how valuable really is it to have the 7th or 8th best in Texas in your league?.

Congrats to Texas State- seems like a good opportunity for them and worth the move. To me Texas State has always been heavy on potential but kind of light of actual results. They will really need to up their game in many ways IMO to compete at the top of the new Pac 12.

Question for @Shane_DNRSports how will the Sun Belt use the $5M exit penalty from Texas State? Towards expansion candidates exit penalties from their conference, to fund buy games for better OOC success, to improve conference championships?.

For the second time this Sports year a Sun Belt school is playing for a National Championship in a major Men’s sport and it’s a Title they have won before. That’s pretty impressive for a “non Power” conference.

If the rumors are true that Texas State will leave the Sun Belt for the Pac 12 and the conference looks for an immediate replacement Western Kentucky is best. Western division member who is reasonable to travel to for all conference members. Proven success in football and hoops.

The Sun Belt is a really strong conference in many areas. A multi bid league that can compete for the CFP and NCAA championships across multiple sports. Keith Gill and co. just need to figure out Men’s Basketball.

Question for the media who covers JMU- aside from the obvious benefits to school and football program are there any direct $ revenue benefits to making the CFP field and/or advancing? Can that revenue in the new revenue sharing model be redeployed toward things such as NIL?.
