Thrilled to have my first piece published in Pirate Wires. I care a lot about Boston's future, and I hope this piece will prompt some much-needed scrutiny of the current administration's policy program, which, if left unchecked, bodes ill not just for Boston itself, but for
NEW IN PIRATE WIRES: Mayor Michelle Wu is running a 100-year-old playbook to choke housing development and fuel crime in Boston, playing to her base while neglecting the broader health of the city. In 2024, Boston’s commercial property sector was struggling. Office occupancy and

Hi Matt--great to hear from you! We do represent small property owners, we just don't believe your projections for a second here. Did you personally come up with the theory that raising taxes doesn't cause rents to go up?
@sbvanvoorhis @universalhub @jessmachadoshow @CosmoMacero @maggiemulvihill @SPOA_Mass Who does SPOA really represent? Obviously not small landlords who would save an average $1,000 per unit under this proposal.

🏠 Rent control leads to higher rents 📈, frozen development 🧊, higher taxes 💸, and fewer homes. That’s why a majority of Massachusetts voters reject it. But the Boston DSA and socialist lawmakers are working to force it onto the 2026 ballot anyway.

Unsurprisingly, many anti-landlord regulations designed to help tenants actually make tenants' lives harder by pushing up rents:
NEW RESEARCH by former professors at Harvard and UC-Berkeley answers the question: How do tenant protections like "just cause eviction," right-to-counsel, and source-of-income impact rents? Answer: They drive up rents -- especially for the lowest-income renters. Findings: 🧵

Rent control isn’t just failed policy, it may violate the MA Constitution. That's why we're once again opposing this potential ballot question. We’re defending voters’ 1994 decision ✅, protecting property rights 🏠, and urging the AG to reject this costly scheme on taxpayers.

A typical outcome of rent control--welfare for rich people. @homesforallmass wants to bring this to Massachusetts!
Somewhere last night in New York City, a single mother and her children slept at a homeless shelter because you, assemblyman @ZohranKMamdani are occupying her rent controlled apartment. You grew up rich and married an even wealthier woman. You’ve had weddings on 3 continents.
