Best cycleway ever!!
Great to see the Liverpool & Oxford Sts can cycleway open to the public & in use. A game changer to re-engineer such a major city artery, with plenty of buses, to accommodate a cycleway. Bravo @clovermoore.bsky.social #jessmiller & @cityofsydney team #publicsydney

Great to be involved in this . Now just need to connect to Oxford st East
New bus stop along modified Oxford St up & running (cycleway not yet open). Still leaves 5 lanes of traffic & for bus lane. More space for pedestrians too, but could have some more shelter Bravo @cityofsydney & @CloverMoore New paradigm of a main street #publicsydney

Another great read.....Infrastructure administration might be banal but it's costing us tens of billions via @crikey_news

Administering these projects might be unglamorous, but we're losing billions of dollars doing it badly.

The Rozelle Interchange is working exactly as planned
smh.com.au
The interchange was built primarily to funnel traffic in and out of the for-profit WestConnex toll road. So traffic approaching Anzac Bridge from Victoria Road was always going to suffer.

From a 100-mile city to a desert ski resort: why is Saudi Arabia spending billions on architectural ‘gigaprojects’?

The Saudi crown prince is creating wildly ambitious projects masterminded by renowned architects, curators and designers. The upshot is either progressive modernisation or image-laundering, depending...

For anyone seeking to understand how we’ve ended up with a huge affordability issue in housing and what the [contentious] destination is to redress it, this interview between @murpharoo and @AlanKohler is well worth 30 minutes of your time.
theguardian.com
Guardian Australia political editor Katharine Murphy speaks to finance journalist Alan Kohler about why decades of government, starting from Robert Menzies, gave up on affordable housing

@michaelkoziol While sure he was good at winning Vic elections against useless Lib opposition, Dan Andrews’ urban policies pretty weak; -Fisherman’s Bend? -Southbank? -Apple Store in Fed Sq? -Loop railway too far out, but no airport rail? -Demo all inner city public housing? -Motorwaymania

Speculation of a terrace strata sub-division. 1,000s within Sydney LGAs. Many occupied by empty nesters. Simple strata sub-division enables 2 smaller dwellings within. Upper apt.access via external stair. Reversible. Class 2 hybrid!! @Constructionedg

A nice change from the over designed playgrounds that adults typically like (and government agencies commission) https://t.co/MilxpKuWSH via @UrbanOmnibus
urbanomnibus.net
New York City's only adventure playground is a beloved destination. But it's also a proposition to make room for free play across the city, from street to schoolyard.

Well if only they did update streetscapes but granny flats typically destroy backyard landscapes for a feeble density increase that will not solve the housing issue. Love your work and aspirations but we need more landscape and denser streetscapes #YIMS
"Giving residents the right to build granny flats without a planning permit rides roughshod over community concerns and could irreversibly change streetscapes" City of Boroondara takes a stand against common sense. https://t.co/d26cfwoBEL

Victoria Rd comes to mind….
Yet again, promises of reduced surface traffic used to justify motorway projects are no longer possible, because of *traffic modelling”. But one more road (Western Harbour Tunnel) might fix it! #InducedTraffic We want #BetterStreets

🚗📷 Narrow traffic lanes— and slow speeds— save lives. New research from @AmericanHealth shows that narrower lanes improve safety, 📷📷 optimize cycle lanes and sidewalks, 📷 reduce environmental impact, and can help boost the economy.🌍 https://t.co/z06KYGLIPe
