Wildlife Ecology & Conservation undergrads get plenty of experience monitoring species, on the ground and underneath it, in the water, and yes, in the air! During this nocturnal activity, they use special equipment to locate and hear bats as they hunt their evening snacks.

We call the first big undergrad hike of the semester our 'sense-of-place hike' because it provides a great introduction to local and regional flora and fauna, topography, @ShenandoahNPS history, and geology.
