It can seem calm but waves previous days can create rip currents which are still active. Not knowing your local conditions puts you at risk. Swim in lifeguard hours on lifeguard beaches. More out of hours rescues last night. @surflifesaving
Rapidly rising water can trap you with little or no warning and no easy escape route. Always check the tide times before visiting the coast and take a mobile phone with you in case of an emergency. If you get cut off by the tide, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
