SJO cross country athletes run fast year round. ALWAYS include speed. Sprinting is a skill. You have to work on the skill of going fast!.
I got an email today from a distance guy wondering if he should do the Atomic Speed Workout over the summer. “My coach says I shouldn’t do any speed workouts during the summer. I should focus on running 1600 times that colleges will notice (low 4:10s in 1600).” . 🙃.

Ever wonder why the warmup is important?.
When muscles are stretched passively (rapidly) to the point of mechanical failure (such that they display permanent deformation), muscle temperature affects how much energy they can absorb before tearing. Higher muscle temperatures allow more energy absorption.
