Scuba diving generates up to $20 billion each year, supporting up to 124,000 jobs over 170 countries, &as divers prefer to dive in marine reserves, this offers a great economic incentive for marine conservation. #scubadiving #scubanews #Conservation

2 weeks ago, I made the collage of still photos that didn’t make the cut for actual use or posts, from my March 6, 2024 Aliens dive folder. Had a spare few minutes last night to finally get to the video clips shot from the same dive. Hundreds of folders still to go🤣

The leaf sheep is one of few animals that can perform photosynthesis! 🐑🌿. This little sea slug sucks up chloroplasts from algae in a process called kleptoplasty. This provides nutrition as well as giving the leaf sheep its green color.💚☀️. Learn more:

I found a drift net on the beach. As disposing of waste in Maldives is not as easy, I thought about recycling at least parts of the net. Thanks to the 'How to make ghostnet bracelets' by @ORP_INDIANOCEAN I learned how to make bracelets. Do you like it?.#reuse #reduce #recycling

Love the way this type of #cuskeel larvae sometimes curls its little tail over its face - so freakin cute! 🥰 This guy is ~1.5 cm, and while I can’t be sure, it could be #Monomitopus agassizii. #deepseafish #fishlarvae #blackwater #chrisgug #gugunderwater #gug #underwater

Divers are some of the first to notice when something is out of balance in the ocean. Invasive species that spread rapidly and disrupt ecosystems are a growing threat to ocean health, but divers around the world are stepping up to help. #scubadiving.
