The real kicker is how often presidential candidates promise a balanced budget, then come back 4 years later with some excuse that it couldn't be done.
Paying taxes hits different when you see just how many places it gets blown for nothing. $100 million here, $500 million there, $5 billion over there, $300 million there. People work their entire lives to pay $500k in taxes, and it’s a rounding error on one wasteful program.
