Regardless of whether this is true, the narrative of secretly planning to replace an acclaimed young Black actor as a primary character (while promoting him as the star attraction) with an older white actor whom you’ve used ten times as a different character isn’t a great look.

The theatrical cut of LOTR: The Two Towers is perfection, its narrative fluid and swift. Despite the good tidbits, the extended cut just makes the movie feel longer.
It seems like it very rarely happens but what is the best case of a film’s theatrical cut being better than an extended/director’s cut?.
