Jon Heyman on Astros right now: âthe Astros are looking for YOUNG pitching, teams like the White Sox, Royals and Pirates the Astros are staring at, a trade is more likely then a signing a pitcher free agentâ

I actually thought about Piñango for the Royals in a trade at the deadline.
In the Rule 5 draft, one hitter I would target is Blue Jays outfielder Yohendrick Piñango. -- 23 years old -- High-end LH bat speed, plus-plus raw power, EVs up to 115 mph -- Not a high swing-and-miss bat (20% K-rate this year); drew 70 walks -- Hit .298/.406/.522 in 47 games at

Watching Ken Burns' Baseball with my partner who's never seen it. She asked why nobody has hit .400 since Williams and I start listing off reasons why. Spent a solid 5 minutes on the improvement of fielding. Better athletes, better positioning, more consistency. It's insane.
This is a good dive into something we've been talking about for a while and which many people refuse to admit: fielders are too good, low BA is not just hitters wanting launch angle or whatever More hits? Make it harder on fielders. https://t.co/RCak6WlQdU

That weakens the possibility of a Royals-Red Sox deal. Doesnât make it impossible, just less likely.

đđđ It came out exactly 50-50 (with 200+ votes). Maybe now we see how hard it is to be J.J. Piccolo. I think either path could work. I lean option A though.
You're #Royals GM J.J. Piccolo. Choose a path. Option A: Trade Bubic for best prospect available. Sign Mike Tauchman and Rob Refsnyder to platoon LF. Cags everyday in RF. Option B: Trade Cameron for Jarren Duran. Sign Refsnyder to platoon. Cags everyday in RF.

"the 2025 Royals went from baseballâs fourth-weakest offense in the first half to 11th-best in the second half....It was about better swing decisions, as the Royals walked a lot more, chased a lot less, and saw their damage increase."
The Blue Jays made an incredible run to the World Series, and while people want it so badly to be just about contact, it really wasn't. On the 5 teams best positioned to follow the Toronto path to 2026 success: -->

Same amount of yards offensively. One team has two TDs, the other two FGs. Sums up a lot.
