speaking of zoo animals, didn't President Trump recently post a video portraying former President Obama and the former First Lady as zoo animals?

That's not the way trade negotiations work, actually. Perhaps the US side ranks open access to Canada's dairy market as their highest priority. Canada will have priorities of its own. There'll be discussion; the final outcome will be the result of tradeoffs by both countries
MAJOR BREAKING: USMCA is TOAST If Trade talks do NOT include open access to Dairy Farms the U.S. has nothing to talk to 🇨🇦 about. Either Canada opens up its market to the United States and acts like a participant to U.S. 🇺🇸 vision ITS OVER FOR CANADA https://t.co/adATz3hdv2

I’m the former Michigan governor who negotiated the Gordie Howe bridge. Here’s what Donald Trump gets wrong
thestar.com
The U.S. president has shared multiple dubious assertions about the bridge linking Windsor with Detroit. The facts tell a different story, writes Rick Snyder.

Jivani's visit rationale was that GM had laid-off 1200 workers in his riding. Pres. Trump & his Commerce Secty, repeatedly, have said there should be NO auto assembly in CDA. This isn't about a "hissy fit"; they want to kill CDA's auto sector. Did Jivani tell them that's wrong?
And so ends what actually was actually was as shallow a thing as some feared. He blamed Canadians to suck up to Trump and Vance. Exclusive: Jivani Says Canada Harming Itself with 'Hissy Fit' on Trade with U.S. https://t.co/z2nWdkghPt via @BreitbartNews

All true! And the capacity to inspect what does come into the US will be vastly greater at the Gordie Howe bridge. More space, all the latest technological bells and whistles. Presumably important to an Administration focussed on security at the USA's borders!
@GuntherEagleman I worked on this file. From one former spokesperson to another. With affection. And a red pen. Fact check time. Canada does not control what crosses the bridge. Customs and border enforcement are exercised by each country on its own side. Like every other border crossing on

Korea yes (Canada does have a free trade agreement with Korea - which is a criteria for eligibility under the new policy). There is no Canada-China FTA - and none imaginable. This could be the necessary condition that triggers Korean auto manufacturing investment in Canada!
New EV rebate policy is smart. Not many cars will qualify. Perhaps none. But it now dangles a huge carrot for Korean/Chinese EV makers. Country of 40M isn't as small as we think. We are the same size as California - now 4th largest economy in the world. Stop selling raw resources

It's also intended to try to sully Canada's generally highly positive image in the US. MAGA, in particular, isn't very discerning: if Pres. Trump says (whatever) about a country, most among his 'base' seem inclined to believe him.
This is the kind of propaganda that will infect our political ecosystem so long as Trump and his movement control the US government. It is intended to intimidate and interfere in Canadian politics.

It’s not security, & it’s probably not resources either (extremely expensive to extract). It’s owning Greenland’s 2,166,086 square kilometres that he’s obsessed with - making the U.S. the world’s 2nd largest country (ahead of Canada). Property acquisition to bolster his legacy.
On Trump and Greenland: we know it’s not security Trump wants, it’s the resources. The lyrics of Cdn singing group The Original Caste’s One Tin Soldier keep running through my mind: “So the people of the valley Sent a message up the hill Asking for the buried treasure Tons of

Exactly! All formal review processes (national security, economic benefit, environmental impacts, etc) will remain in place. North America won't be put at any risk by CDN actions. Can Governor Haley commit that the US Govt will not further threaten CDN prosperity & security?

How could the White House object? Canada & several NATO allies would be demonstrating a real commitment to protect Greenland against the imminent threat they (allegedly) face from Russian or Chinese invasion
Canada needs to show up for Greenland. And stand shoulder to shoulder with them. We cannot sidestep our responsibilities on this. 🇨🇦🇬🇱 https://t.co/MQeFwJpAjQ

Indeed! Let’s make sure that neither of our countries puts any obstacles in the way of that business continuing - and growing
U.S. aerospace firms are major suppliers to Canadian manufacturers, and vice versa, with cross-border supply chains supporting both commercial and defense aviation. Many of the companies I spoke with in Montreal are vital suppliers to U.S. aerospace giants like Boeing and

Agree completely that there is US domestic US opposition to taking Greenland - which can be made to grow. Canada & all its NATO allies need to be speaking in US to those who will listen (& possibly speak out), increasing the price Trump & Republicans would pay if he proceeds.
@RoyNorton1 True. But everything has a price. And it can become too high, even for President Trump. Those still able to speak truth to power have a shot. A long shot, but a shot.

And it wouldn't matter anyway, since this real estate tycoon's interest in Greenland has little to do with security (the US can get that with existing mechanisms) and everything to do with acquiring 2 million+ sq km of territory, making the USA the world's 2nd biggest country
@justinmassie1 Agreed, but we have not built that kind of relationship to have this level of influence.

Or, one-third to one-half of what the world produces DAILY, or equivalent to what the US produces every two days. And for that, they get to keep their authoritarian narco-socialist government. What a win for the USA!
