Tremendous news for #Bradford and the North in general I'm looking forward to welcoming visitors to this vibrant and emergent city. Well done everyone who worked on the bid
This is the confidence that being named as the #CityofCulture2025 gives to a city, to potential investors, other businesses, employers, residents, local authorities, visitors etc Great sentiment Marko. Hopefully many others will follow. 🚀

I was working in #Bradford2025 recently just brushing up my knowledge of the city in anticipation of the many visitors expectec
Fingers crossed for a Bradford win! However, regardless of who wins, it’s great that culture & multiculturalism is being discussed & celebrated across the UK. Both @LEEDS_2023 & @bradford2025 have already created some great positive energy, collaboration and activity.

#WednesdayWonders: Clogs became popular in the Industrial Revolution. Strong footwear was popular in the Lancashire mills. Clog dancing may have started with mill workers syncopating foot taps to the rhythmic sounds of the loom shuttles. 📷: Martin of Sheffield

#york has a fascinating railway history and it is fitting that the #nationalrailwaymuseum is located there, recently renovated and well worth a visit. #georgehudson the disgraced railway magnate also lived in York before losing all his money and that of his investors too.
A print of Nathaniel Whittock’s 1850s view of the city of York clearly showing the old railway station within the city walls. Designed in 1841 by George Townsend Andrews it had just two platforms; one for arrivals, and one for departures. Andrews also incorporated a hotel.

Sign of the times. Went to a cafe for lunch yesterday and as she handed us the menus the server explained that the prices were no longer correct - there had been a price hike.Realised that #inflation is well and truly upon us
