Do the rocket math. Frame it as something fun and exciting. My six year old went from feeling nervous to saying it’s her favorite thing at school.
In the same way, kids are literally being told not to memorize multiplication facts. And we wonder why we have a math education crisis in this country.

Important for Kindergarten --> Subitizing is the ability to instantly recognize the number of items in a small set without counting. It's like quickly knowing how many dots are on a die without counting them individually.

Yes, we’re coming for math. It needs to be fixed.
Now that the evidence-supported ed community has spurred legislation to do a field-wide re-training in literacy instruction, I can't help thinking that we'll see similar mandates on the math side in the near future. @rastokke @rickhess99 @tomloveless99
