RT @mike_petriello: Jays have lowest K% in ⚾️, but that's hard to put into context because the lowest K% in 2025 would have been the highes….

Jays TV audiences are over 1 million per game. To put that in context - SNY averaged 365,000 viewers for the Subway Series against the Yankees - which was 70% higher than the YES network for the same series. Jays have by far the biggest TV audience in MLB.
Why is today's #Bluejays game a 12:05 start? What has the hot streak done for Sportsnet ratings? That and more from the sports broadcasting world.

If you’re wondering what kind of athlete the new Jays draft pick is he was also a decent Texas highschool football player.

For those who don’t follow the draft much, he would have gone much earlier but the assumption was he wasn’t signing and was going to Texas A&M. Jays saved money with their other picks so they could offer him a massive deal. Big ceiling player worth being excited about.

Another way to look at this - Smoltz won his CY in 1996. He had an incredible year. His ERA- was 69. 31% > avg adjusted for context. As of today, 16 qualified SPs have a ERA- of 69 or better. Starting pitchers are actually dominant right now - but that’s not Smoltz’s narrative.

The most important thing baseball can do to ‘change the narrative’ would be replace curmudgeons like Smoltz with announcers who appreciate modern baseball. How can you watch Skubal the last 2 years, for example and not think he’s a ‘generational pitcher’? . (Charlie Morton. lol).

One day the Dodgers will finally get ownership that doesn’t act like they’re a small market team and instead tries to put a decent product on the field. Until then thoughts and prayers for Dodgers fans are all I’ve got.
Imagine if Dodgers had paid Willy Adames. Then you get a real SS. Mookie Betts could be in right field where he belongs. And Teoscar Hernandez would be in left field where he needs to be.

I’ve posted this before . 2015 was the first time I ever saw the team I cheered for make the playoffs - I was almost 40 & was a fan since I was 9. Expos never did . They died, Jays didn’t until then . All I value as a fan is meaningful baseball for 6-months. It’s everything.
I’m a weird baseball fan . Enjoying stretches like the Jays are giving me right now -meaningful, fun, good baseball -brings me so much joy. Thinking about the next few months? . So good. This is baseball to me. October? . I care. But it’s random. This isn’t hockey. Give me this.
