To my fellow journalists who continue to make this platform their primary short-form output: Why are you going out of your way to reward this one forum with free writing? ➡️

Hello from Barcelona, where I'm once again here to cover MWC. And like last year, you're not going to see my real-time notes here--because Bluesky isn't a billionaire's propaganda playground that elevates some of the Internet's dumber occupants into my replies.

1) Yes, I'm going to CES. 2) No, I won't be posting about it here. This platform's operation and ownership continue to leave me with no business or ethical interest in supporting it with free writing. 3) You will find me posting about CES on Bluesky:

As this platform continues to decay into Elon's propaganda playground, I remain uninterested in supporting it with free writing. Instead, look me up on Bluesky. Not sure who else to follow there? Try this starter pack of tech journalists:

In case anybody was wondering about my continued silence here: Elon's attempts to turn this platform into Truth Social 2.0 haven't made me any more interested in supporting it with free writing. Look me up on Bluesky instead:

Without notice, X has opted all users into training its "Grok" AI Model. To turn off this setting and stop your "posts, interactions, inputs, and results" from being used for training and fine-tuning Grok, visit https://t.co/hhKe2I8u9d and uncheck the checkbox.

Reminder: Elon Musk's continued misrule has not made this site any less repellent. Meanwhile, Bluesky keeps advancing, so you should look me up there (and I'm going to revise my pinned tweet to emphasize that):

Good morning from #MWC24, from where I will not be tweeting because I'm done supporting this site. Instead, look for my real-time notes on Bluesky and (probably less often) Mastodon: https://t.co/wC91wAIzmr

I'm done here. Welcoming Alex Jones back is even more vile than Elon's prior platform destruction, and I will not support this toxic site with more free writing. Find me on Bluesky, Mastodon and LinkedIn: https://t.co/wC91wAIzmr

This is at least the third year in a row where I've covered Comcast jacking up broadband and TV rates only weeks before Christmas. You'd think at some point that somebody in Comcast PR would question this Grinch-esque timing...
pcmag.com
A Comcast rep says most TV bundles will increase by $2 a month, but other reports indicate a $4 internet hike, $6 TV-bundle increase, $4 jump in broadcast-TV rates, and a $1 bump in 'RSN' fees.

Good luck, y'all!
Today is the day! We are outside D.C. @washingtonpost HQ fighting for a fair contract. Reminder: don’t engage with Post content today!

The two words of advice you should get from any privacy professional about how companies should reduce their data-breach risks: "data minimization." The one-word answer from too many companies: "huh?" https://t.co/tGQH9QHRw1
fastcompany.com
Data minimization remains a subject of talk, not practice, at too many firms that have already suffered data breaches.

If anybody's looking for an escape pod off this platform, I have two Bluesky invite codes. E-mail me if you'd like one.

The headline I wrote for my recap of today's #Starship recap, and which the editors kept (which I can assure you is nowhere near a sure thing in journalism): Starship's Second Flight Test Burns Bright But Not Quite Long Enough https://t.co/CoozpbCTao
pcmag.com
A successful liftoff and staging is followed by an explosion of the spent first stage and then, minutes later, the second stage.

Sharing Apple News links without naming the source publication was always unhelpful, but now that we can't see the original headline it's even harder to guess where a click through will go. Either name the source or link directly to it instead of promoting Apple's newsstand.

It's really something when *execs at wireless carriers* are the ones saying that everybody else needs to ease off the next-G hype.
A recent 6G conference in New York saw enthusiasm from researchers and trade groups that was not matched among big US telecom network operators. https://t.co/wOosX10I0e via @robpegoraro

(I do wish Sam and the other Virginia-politics experts I still come here to read would give Bluesky a try. If any of y'all want invite codes, please hit me up.)

In case anybody here is not clear on the importance of voting in state and local elections, not just ones that send candidates to D.C., see this thread noting how close some of yesterday's races in Virginia now stand pending counts of provisional ballots.
🧵 on outstanding VA Races Mail ballots postmarked yesterday can be received until Monday at Noon There are also provisionals (not all will count) w most being same-day registration from young voters Both these lean heavily Dem Provisional Stats https://t.co/EgSjHIO9Di 1/5
