Twite delight at Benacre today. A duo feeding along the sandy cliffs. This little finch - once a winter feature of local saltings - is becoming an increasingly scarce species in Suffolk in line with the steep decline of the British population (subspecies pipilans).

Rosehip, sloes and Pallas's Leaf Warbler. Born in the montane taiga forests of the Far East, this tiny seven-striped sprite's maiden migration of some 3,000 miles landed it in my parish of Gunton, Lowestoft, rather than its more usual subtropical southeast Asia wintering grounds.

A perusal of a buddleia grove next to Dunelm at Lowestoft's South Quay revealed this delightfully frosty Siberian Chiffchaff. From east of the Urals to a waste ground next to an architectural eyesore once labelled Suffolk's ugliest building!

Welsh Labour have genuinely posted this video of their Caerphilly candidate Richard Tunnicliffe on social media. Turn the sound on. ππ It had the caption: "Vote for this total diva on Thursday October 23rd." I have no idea what to say.

A newly arrived Short-eared Owl - having crossed the North Sea - was this evening's cycle ride highlight.

A post-work cycle ride produced a loquacious Yellow-browed Warbler - presumably freshly arrived - in the Links Hill sycamores, Lowestoft, at dusk (library photo).
