Glad to contribute to this article today. Although the term 'pilot' might not be strictly accurate, it's really important that these trials are properly designed, monitored and evaluated by an independent research team with funding from a neutral source to produce useful data.

I've been busy all day today and just home to catch up the news. Did @Nigel_Farage really give an interview to @LBC in which he stated that there is an over diagnosis of mental health conditions? In the exact same way, the lunatic, RFK Jr. did earlier in the week in the US.

Our research concluded that if a pilot scheme were introduced, it must be carefully designed to evaluate its impact objectively

Research conducted last year by @ismh_uos into this very topic showed the importance of considering the long-term impact of any pilot scheme on alcohol consumption and public health and needs to be fully and independently evaluated:

Interesting. The economic argument that alcohol sales could bring increased revenue for clubs would need to be carefully evaluated alongside the impact on alcohol-related harms. A key consideration not mentioned here, despite alcohol specific deaths being at a 15-year high.
NEW: The Health Secretary says the Scottish Government would give “serious consideration” to any proposal to lift the alcohol ban at football Neil Gray was responding to calls from @GeorgeAdam who says the game has moved on from the 1980s

Times have changed if we are referring to changes in stadium safety and football related disorder. However, the impact of increasing availability of alcohol on overall levels of alcohol consumption, normalisation, and increased marketing and sponsorship also need to be considered
