@DennisB14744850 @OntarioIsSoccer Evidence has shown that when children become aware that they are participating in a rigged game - that is, a game in which they are not treated fairly and have a disproportionate chance of losing relative to their skills and ability - they become physiologically and mentally

@ianlearnperform @CPLsoccer @L1OMens @CanadaSoccerEN @OntarioIsSoccer Well done Ian! I'm working on an equation to predict the % of Canadian players, who have earned a trial in Europe, that will be eligible for the @OntarioIsSoccer "Exceptional Player Exemption" allowing them to play up in @League1ON ...and the answer seems to be approaching zero!

All 4 of these "unmanageable risks" are detrimental, but in my opinion, by far the most detrimental is the first one, as it is preventing us from optimally developing our players and coaches, and this suboptimal development is likely a leading cause of risks #2 -4.

@matt_f90 🤫 Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..so, a report by an Instructor on @OntarioIsSoccer TD courses who worked w/several OPDL clubs & was involved in the initial launch/presentation of the league, concluded that the league is "achieving all its initial objectives"? 🤔

@matt_f90 @OntarioIsSoccer Add to that, the following methodological limitations: 🚫 No control groups 🚫 Presentation of only correlations, without any causal links (are we meant to infer causality?) 🚫 14.9% coach response rate & 59% player/parent response rate 🚫 No interviews of non-OPDL stakeholders

@_ToddBeane Why can't coaches ascribe an equal priority to all 3 of be following characteristics of players: 1. Technical ability. 2. Physical ability 3. As you call it, "intelligent application of technical prowess." One does not need to be prioritized over any of the others, does it?

@STFC_Academy @KULA1087 @CanadaSoccerEN This sounds great, but @OntarioIsSoccer and @CanadaSoccerEN would probably only endorse a system like this if they could run it themselves, and we have already seen what a poor job these associations do when they are given (or simply take) power and control to run competitive

@mattyoung101 Matt as you know (and @GadSaad as you may/may not know), youth sports - especially soccer, the world's most popular sport and the largest participation sport by far in Canada - is one of the areas in which we have all but eliminated meritocracy in favor of nepotism + ideology.

@geswolfcrest @kevinablue @CanadaSoccerEN 🎯 The irony is, they keep raising their fees, while simultaneously refusing to use any of that money to cover the costs of their programs/services. Even worse, money is going to fund our youth National Teams, who are identified through a corrupted & biased "talented pathway."

@matt_f90 @OntarioIsSoccer @Jmizz20 1️⃣ You have remained complacent despite the fact that your organization requires clubs in its "development league" to submit (under penalty of fine) fitness assessment data which you know are invalid and unreliable, and which you neither look at, nor use, once they are submitted.

@OntarioIsSoccer @SportChek @Glen_Shields Did your CEO @Jmizz20 show up to threaten the team/club with being found in "violation of compliance standards" and/or removal of insurance coverage due to its affiliation with a "third party organization"? Or do those threats only apply to the clubs that don't pay you?

Hi @mattyoung101 excellent point. I've researched, posted, & written a lot (& published a little) about training load in youth sports (mostly soccer). A piece which is often missed/misunderstood is exactly HOW to accurately quantify "load." Sometimes, volume alone isn't enough!

Observing in season dry-land training volumes, coupled with over scheduled practice sessions + multi-game tournament weekends shows just how little multiple sport stakeholders know [or care] about load management. Explains why so many athletes are burning out & getting injured
