I'm incredibly excited to welcome @rodventures as the new CEO of Edge & Node, effective immediately. Rodrigo has a deep appreciation for the past decisions that have driven The Graph's success and a strong vision for how the protocol should evolve in the future.

Big news at Edge & Node! We’re excited to share that Rodrigo Coelho (@rodventures), one of our earliest team members, has officially stepped into the role of CEO. Rodrigo has been instrumental in The Graph’s journey from day one—leading community efforts, managing operations,

It's also notable that this is all happening post the era of the three original Co-Founders of The Graph being involved in day-to-day. I'm super inspired by The Graph's next generation of leaders and can't think of a better testament to the ecosystem being in good hands.

And congrats to @lutterkort, @yodataz and too many others to list on the Edge & Node team for all the hard work in getting Amp (as well as Ampersend!) launched in less than a year, in time for Devconnect. Reminds me of our execution velocity in the early days of The Graph.

I take my hat off to @leoyvens at E&N whose brainchild Amp originally is. As well to @rodventures (less than a year as CEO and already two massive product launches!) and CTO @thefubhy for making such a bold bet on the future of The Graph.

This takes courage, for two reasons: - To avoid the sunk cost fallacy on the time and effort that has spent on the previous solution. - To be different, and avoid pattern matching to the off-the-shelf tech everyone else is using just because it's "proven"

After amassing many such tradeoffs, sometimes the only path forward is a clean break: Architecting from first principles a solution that is optimized for your use case, with building blocks that are powerful yet unopinionated enough to be composed into something completely new.

For example, with subgraphs we had to reconcile the completely different consistency models of blockchains and off-the-shelf SQL databases. This meant tons of bookkeeping pushed into the DB that slowed the performance of every read/write, just so we could handle block reorgs.

...as you have to introduce ever increasing workarounds, tradeoffs and glue-code complexity in order to fit a square peg into a round hole. Eventually tradeoffs become so numerous that they prevent you from building the best possible product.

Frameworks, or similarly complex "black box" technologies like PostgreSQL are fantastic when you are operating within the set of conditions anticipated by the creators. But when you hit the limits of those technologies, there is a point of diminishing then negative returns...

This is in contrast to simply wrapping existing batteries-included database technologies as most blockchain data providers on the market do today. It's a differentiated response to the classic library vs framework dilemma, as it pertains to blockchain data.

This. I think people are sleeping on the potential of impact of Amp, and how different it is from everything that has come before it. Amp is a database architected from the ground-up with blockchains in mind.

Went through the code for Amp that @edgeandnode built for @graphprotocol and it’s insane. Custom database w/ DataFusion for verifiable transformations using Arrow, Parquet & SQL. Blazing fast. Parallelized. Modular. It took a while but @graphprotocol did it again.

As the value of onchain assets increase, the demand for data and thus the value of that data increases proportionally - but only if you can rapidly filter, transform and use that data to drive decisions. This is why The Graph is so well positioned for this next wave.

For The Graph, Q3 marked a turning point: from rapid expansion to institutional-grade infrastructure. Faster sync times. Real-time cross-chain data. Privacy-first frameworks. And a deliberate shift to quality over quantity. The foundation is set. Now comes the era where

The Edge & Node team is working with @coinbase on the future of agentic payments 🤖 Today’s x402 standard enables HTTP-native, stablecoin micropayments. But if every microtransaction settles onchain, the agent economy will not scale. Our proposal: a deferred payment scheme. •
