For far too long cyber charter schools have been unaccountable and have charged widely varying tuition rates to school districts. I'm very excited to announce that my bill to address these issues has just passed the #PaHouse!

There is no safe level of exposure to lead for children. But so many of the schools and homes in our communities have old paint and plumbing that is putting our kids in danger. Today I led a @PADemPolicy meeting to work on real solutions to this widespread problem.

Dog fighting not only is a cruel crime against animals, it also breeds more criminal activity like, child sexual assault, illegal firearms, drug trafficking, domestic violence and money laundering. I'm dedicated to ending this heinous crime along with @PADemPolicy .

I was excited to hear the investments proposed for all Pennsylvanians in the governor's budget address. He touched on priorities that will keep PA on track- like equitable public education, housing, transportation and local businesses .

The Environmental Resources & Energy committee toured Three Mile Island in anticipation of its reactivation. Reopening the plant is expected to create over 3,000 secure, well-paying jobs for Pennsylvanians and help us find new sources of energy.

Tomorrow, Nov. 5 is the General Election. It's time to get out, cast your vote or drop off your mail-in ballot. Don't forget the city opened 10 election satellite offices around the city to make voting easier for us all. It's time to make your voice heard.

I was proud to vote yes with my Democratic colleagues in the House to expand state grant programs for fire and EMS agencies, but the Republican controlled Senate hasn’t taken it up for a vote. We will keep fighting for those who put their lives on the line for our safety.

In this week’s policy hearing, we heard from dedicated volunteer firefighters who spoke of the increase in calls while membership decreases and a five time increase of hours required for training, which creates time constraints for volunteer firefighters.
