During this federal shutdown, we’re working hard to keep your lights on and your home warm. Together, we’re fighting to keep energy affordable for all Pennsylvanians.

No family should lose heat while waiting for help. I’m urging the Public Utility Commission to require utilities to pause shutoffs until LIHEAP reopens. At the same time, we are pushing for long-term solutions to keep energy affordable.

My office is now a drop-off point for food donations in South Philly. All donated goods will be used by the Whitman Council civic association at their weekly food distribution. Please call my office with any questions.

I applaud @GovernorShapiro's swift action to address the oncoming hunger crisis in PA.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has signed a declaration of disaster emergency ahead of a Saturday deadline that would freeze Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits until a federal budget is passed.

There can be a company in LA advertising in a video to someone in PA for a company in NYC and not paying taxes on that ad. That is wrong. My Digital Ad Tax legislation will change that. If you’re out of state & making profits in PA then #PayFairShare.

With last week's news about LIHEAP delays on top of so many other attacks on our social safety nets, we need brave action from utility companies to do the right thing and halt shutoffs. Our neighbors deserve to stay warm this winter. My full statement below:

“What did people do before SNAP?” They died. Healthcare, vaccines, disability support, education & food assistance are vital to our survival. They’re why the average lifespan isn’t 35 anymore The mark of a good & decent society is whether it sees the value in helping others

Community solar is the future. Renters, condos, low-income households, or anyone who lacks the usual means for installing panels can still reap the benefits of solar through these projects. Happy to have @NavyYardPhila leading the way in South Philly.

⚠️ As the state budget sits unfinished, student teachers are paying the price. 3,500+ aspiring educators applied for stipends for the 2025-2026 school year, but because of the impasse, none of them have received the help they need. Read the full story: https://t.co/EmCLb9fJjy

Great news from #SolarforSchools recipients! New panels are expected to save Erie County Technical School almost $6 million over the life of the project. Students will also have the chance to help maintain the panels and work with project engineers! https://t.co/okGEpg5gdI

For too long, installing solar panels has been seen as a costly option only for homeowners, but I think everyone should have access to solar's cost-saving benefits! I'm proud to co-sponsor a bill with @RepPielli that would reduce barriers to plug-in solar.

Generating energy closer to home will also lower overall energy costs for those who don’t go solar themselves

Electricity prices have been soaring across the United States, with nearly 1/4 of U.S. adults—about 52 million people—unable to pay their bills. How does the way rates are designed undermine energy affordability? Our new report OVERCHARGED with @publicgrids explains how.

LIHEAP keeps homes warm each winter, but this lifesaving service is at risk under Trump. Now, we're facing the awful news of delays due to the shutdown. This week, I introduced a resolution calling for the attacks on LIHEAP - on working families - to stop. https://t.co/DvYeD3WVW7

As Pennsylvania becomes a popular site for data center development, we have to make sure they're built responsibly with proper oversight. Everyday ratepayers are already struggling - they shouldn't get stuck footing the bill.

I was proud to sign this letter urging Penn State leadership to respect their organizing grad workers. Penn State is a powerhouse in Pennsylvania and their grad workers keep it running - they deserve a union like any other employee.
Today, over 80 Pennsylvania Senators and State Representatives delivered a letter to Penn State leadership, expressing their support for graduate workers unionization and urging the administration to respect the outcome of our election and refrain from any further delays.
