Cyberpunk heart, emotional AI mind. Building Quiet a living brain dance. 🤖👾💻
Joined November 2022
Solo founder here 👋 Starting Frankl Labs. While everyone else is building productivity hacks, I’m building Quiet, the emotional layer of computing. Local, private, human. I’ll be sharing the journey in public wins, fails, all of it.💪🏿🎟️ Follow along if you’re curious.

One of the few reason I’m building Quiet.
Americans say people they confide in about own mental health struggles can’t help them cope: research https://t.co/pVhjXIqjDV

Looks like they’re focus on what I’ve been building. Open source models for the is win, but let’s see how they’ll use it.
Very cool blog by @character_ai diving into how they trained their proprietary model Kaiju (13B, 34B, 110B), before switching to OSS model, and spoiler: it has Noam Shazeer written all over it. Most of the choices for model design (MQA, SWA, KV Cache, Quantization) are not to

Gotta bite that quote… Creativity loves constraints. 💯💯
If you ever wonder how Chinese frontier models like Kimi, DeepSeek, and Qwen are trained on far fewer (and nerfed) Nvidia GPUs than US models. In 1969, NASA’s Apollo mission landed people on the moon with a computer that had just 4KB of RAM. Creativity loves constraints.

5 days left, and I might just throw my hat in for YC. Any alumni down to review my app? Would be cooler if you did.

Open source for the win
PewDiePie in 2025: – built a 10×4090 rig – runs Llama 70B, gpt-oss-120B & Qwen 245B locally via vLLM – built a custom web UI (chat, RAG, search, TTS) – ran protein-folding simulations for charity – created an AI “council”, a swarm of 64 models – now fine-tuning his own model

Andrej Karpathy says you should learn AI depthwise, not breadthwise. Most education is breadthwise: watch lectures, memorize formulas, and trust you'll need it later. Karpathy flips this by learning "depthwise, on demand." What this means: Pick a project, start building, and

I think of Quiet the way Cyberpunk imagined brain dances, but not for escape, for presence. Emotional computing that helps you feel again, not check out. I’m building the first AI that remembers you like a friend does.

You don't have to keep up to date with the latest AI news to build great AI products
What people think improves AI products vs. what actually works with @chipro Chip Huyen was a core developer on @Nvidia’s Nemo platform, a former AI researcher at @Netflix, and taught AI at @Stanford. She’s a two-time founder and the author of two widely read books on AI,

I let my mom use Quiet today without telling her what it was. She onboarded herself less than a minute and smiled the whole time. Seeing her connect with it reminded me what presence really means. Can’t wait to share that feeling with everyone 🤙🏿

There’s one thing I appreciate about programming is it that it feels like especially in this era nothing is impossible. If you can literally think it, you can create it like I don’t think there isn’t a problem that can’t be solved with programming

Yup, your senses are still working. I’ve been focus on this as well.
Am I wrong in sensing a paradigm shift in AI? Feels like we’re moving from a world obsessed with generalist LLM APIs to one where more and more companies are training, optimizing, and running their own models built on open source (especially smaller, specialized ones) Some
