@koleszar_matt and I were honored to be selected as the @MASASupts Legislators of the Year at their conference last week. In addition to our plaques, we were also awarded with wrestling belts for our efforts to advance pro-public education policy.

Let me get this straight…house republicans haven’t released their draft budgets yet (due back in May) & are refusing to negotiate a final budget, & the reason is because the Dems didn’t vote to dock pay from the legislature starting in 2028…what? Please just do your fucking job

It’s the end of June & House Republicans haven’t even introduced their draft gen gov budget yet—it should have been done by May. Negotiations should have started a month ago, instead they’re playing games. Now they’re blaming everyone else for their inability to govern. Sad.
MI House GOP, do you live in alternate reality?!? You came to the negotiating table WAY late on schools & you haven’t even intro’ed a general budget. No one is buying your blatant lies. Livelihoods are on the line — start getting real. We dare you.

We are less than one week out from the statutory deadline to pass a budget to fund our schools and local communities. Since the Republicans haven’t even passed most of the draft budgets yet, they called in Ted Nugent today to testify about feral pigs 🙈

So many of us are heartbroken and our sense of safety has been shook to the core. No one should have to worry about the safety of their family when they sign up to serve. I’m devastated that this is the state of our nation right now.

I’m still reeling from the news out of MN yesterday. Two state reps & their families were targeted in a politically motivated act of senseless violence. Melissa Hortman was a true public servant and my heart is broken for her and her family, the Hoffman family, & their community.
The news out of Minnesota is horrific. State legislators are your neighbors — grounded in the community to represent your best interests at the State Capitol. Public service should never be met with political violence. My prayers are with the Hortman and Hoffman families.

❌ Increases payroll tax for schools districts, reducing more dollars getting to the classroom .❌ Ties more strings to funding, making it harder for districts to access resources. ❌ If passed, would ultimately lead to higher property taxes to backfill cuts from this budget.
