We want a better future for Oxford - for residents, visitors, and businesses. We support proposals that are rooted in evidence and backed by communities.

Local authorities have become drunk on power, using so-called Experimental (because they aren't) Traffic Regulation Orders to force through mass road closures - with almost no checks or balances to reign them in. We're calling on the @transportgovuk to bin them. #AbolishETROs

The precursor to Oxford's congestion charge aimed to stop most daytime car movements around the city. "Filter" locations were chosen because they severed road connections between neighbourhoods - not because they were congested. The scheme was known as "Connecting Oxford".

Much of the traffic / congestion in North Oxford is concentrated in the top bit of it, where the schools and suburban shops are clustered. Congestion doesn't occur in the northern bit of the city centre. The congestion charge is likely to make the busy bits of Oxford busier.

If only the leader of @OxfordCity could be as emphatic as their Bristol counterparts.
Bristol's Labour leader has called for bus gates in Barton Hill to be turned off as he proposes root and branch changes to the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood

Only a handful of people will know what this means. That's fine. Those that need to know, now know. We screenshotted the text too. Soz. https://t.co/5MvJvuqGAd

The legal letter ahead of the formal legal challenge to Oxfords congestion charge has gone in. https://t.co/9oLTdGZltJ

The first step towards a legal challenge to Oxford’s congestion charge has begun after pre-action letter sent to Oxfordshire County Council.

Doesn't this traffic filters projection from September 2022 show that various congestion hotspots on Oxford's outer edges are projected to see significant increases in traffic if the traffic filters are bought in? This report was produced just before the consultation started.

Bored of just bashing commuters with zero emmision zones, traffic filters etc? Why not bash their employers too - with a "£1,000+ per car parking space" workplace parking levy?! There's even a free toolkit, to help you parrot out your justifications! https://t.co/jSoMdyxxJj

Traffic levels on Headington Hill are predicted to plunge by nearly half when the congestion charge goes in. No one mention that congestion isn't here - it's on the nearby approach road to the John Radcliffe Hospital. Something the council's traffic flow modellers didn't notice

They hid plans for congestion charge in Oxford until after the May elections. Now, the LibDem county council can't even be bothered to inform Oxfordshire residents the scheme is starting, until just before its start date. Ps: the permit website is awful. https://t.co/YeBJln6d77

Not all Oxfordshire residents will receive a leaflet regarding the upcoming congestion charge in Oxford.

It'll be great when traffic levels on this road halves. It's currently truely horrendous at rush hour, as this video shows. Its much better to divert it past people's houses, than these precious university buildings. Oxford residents need to know their place in this city.

The area around the Swan School in Oxford is a chaotic environment of pedestrians and cyclists, mostly separated from cars - apart from at the entrance itself. Two safety reports said congestion charge filter location should not be installed here. OCC officers overruled them.

Congestion charge low lights. It crashes or runs slow. Acknowledgments are not always given. Some permits take up to 10 working days to process. If someone wants to visit you in the central area, and you don't know their reg no. in advance, the system can't process it.

It's impossible to convey the subtly of the congestion charge on a sign like this. So many will assume the charge is a zone, not specific roads. And simply not visit Oxford. OCC assures us this will benefit the Oxford economy. OCC staff won't lose their jobs if they're wrong.

Since when did councils, and Cabinet members, become disinterested in facts? OCC's congestion reduction plan puts a 7am congestion charge on the B4495 (a free flowing road), which will divert extra traffic onto Marsh Lane (at capacity), a main hospital approach road for staff.
@william98024502 @ReconnectingOx @markchristie The congestion charge point on Martson Ferry Road is only operative for specific hours at peak times for that very reason.

We're going to keep placing in the public domain how OCC officers were aware that a new danger is being created by OCC, by putting a congestion charge filter in front of the Swan School. The more information we get, the more we'll publish. No one can say "we didn't know".

Everyone involved knows exactly what's going on. If anyone gets injured as a direct result of this, we will provide the audit trail to hold every single one of them to account.
Having been asked (twice) by safety consultants to relocate the Marston Ferry Road filter due to the enhanced risk of collisions outside the Swan School entrance, officers refused. So new barriers have been erected, meaning anyone doing a u-turn must turn towards the cycle path.

It's good that various lobby groups having finally woken up to the link between traffic and hospitals. https://t.co/G2MINUosin

If you're lucky enough to have two cars, it's possible to use up your 100 day permits in as little as 50 days. Because each car eats up one permit, every day it's used. Even on the same day. Some folks probably thought 2 cars gave them 2 sets of 100 day permits. Apparently not.
