If @MerseyPolice are serious about wanting to strengthen the relationship with women and the police throughout the city, an acknowledgment and apology of their mishandling of the whole situation is a clear display of commitment to a better future.

Last year, I was issued a cease & desist as well as threat of criminal charges & £10k fine by @MerseyPolice Today, the HC have ruled that the Met didn’t act in accordance with the law. @MerseyPolice acted the same as the Met. Will you now apologise & acknowledge you were wrong?

I was threatened with a cease & desist, a £10k fine & had officers in uniform sent to my home over a socially distanced vigil while the PM & cabinet were partying weekly. There are no words.

This is what happens when you bring your sons up to have no respect for women and girls. A family has woken up today without their child because a group of young boys felt entitled to carry and use a weapon.

Yesterday was White Ribbon Day and the start of 16 days of activism against gender based violence. Today we wake up to see a young girl has had her life taken in our city at the hands of men. My heart is broken for her and her family. We need change now.
A 12-year-old girl has died after being stabbed in Liverpool City Centre yesterday. Merseyside Police say 4 teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They are aged 13-15. https://t.co/BcRp3hpjag

Our inboxes are flooded this morning with the same heartbreaking question: "What do I advise women to do if they're approached by a lone, male @metpoliceuk officer?" Our answer, in memory of #SarahEverard is:

Thank you @CapitalLivNews for asking such thoughtful questions today and helping to give a voice to how so many women around the country are feeling today.

Let’s stop calling him a former police officer when he was not only a serving @metpoliceuk officer at the time but abused his position of power to facilitate his crime.
Former police officer Wayne Couzens in court for sentencing. Court hears he had police handcuffs, arrested her & used his knowledge of police Covid patrols to detain her.

Many promises were made after Sarah Everard's death, but that hasn't stopped Britain's problem of male violence.

Concerns? Really? I’m sickened, angered and devastated that you had the ability to take this man off the streets before he murdered an innocent woman yet you chose to do NOTHING. Just admit that you aren’t interested in targeting institutionalised misogyny and leave it at that.
Wayne Couzens will be sentenced for the kidnap, rape & murder of Sarah Everard over next 2 days. We’re sickened, angered & devastated by his crimes. They betray everything we stand for. We recognise his actions raise many concerns, we’ll comment further when hearing is complete

Leaflet being given out around the area Sabina Nessa was murdered with info from the Met police website. Why don’t the @metpoliceuk actually do something to make the streets safer for women instead of telling us to walk against the traffic and hide our valuables? Worthless info.

Women in this country are repeatedly being failed by government, law enforcement & social services. 1 woman is killed every 3 days in this country. Every 3 days. Thoughts are with Sabina Nessa’s loved ones x

and what is being done to change it? Nothing. We should be able to walk home without fear. Women’s safety isn’t something that should be a privilege, it is the bare minimum we should expect. (2)

Sabina Nessa was 28. A primary school teacher. She’d met her friends for a drink. She was walking home. It was only 8.30pm. She was murdered. Another woman to add to a horrendously long list of women who’ve been murdered by a man. Violence against women is a pandemic (1)

As a serving Met police officer pleads guilty to kidnapping and raping a young woman, the commissioner feels today is the appropriate time to refer to corrupt police officers as ‘bad’uns’. I despair. No institutional change will happen with this woman at the helm.

Struggling to find the words today. My thoughts are with Sarah Everards family and loved ones. Once again, we as a society, are reminded of the epidemic of violence women face on our streets daily. Until all women are safe, there is no justice.
