Estimating the convergence of MetaD usually requires a-posteriori analysis. Moreover the sampling obtained while tuning simulation parameters goes unused. Antoniu developed an approach (& code) to tackle these issues: https://t.co/91MtvReEer

New publication in Environmental DNA from our Project Co-I, Dr Colin Freeman of University of Sheffield, 'Survival of environmental DNA in sediments: Mineralogic control on DNA taphonomy'
onlinelibrary.wiley.com
We address bond level DNA–mineral affinities for two types of common sedimentary minerals and show that mineralogy and surface structures play a large role for fat of DNA in the environment.

This review explores the challenges of modeling crystal nucleation from solutions, highlighting the suitability of various simulation techniques to determine crystal nucleation mechanisms and rates.
Understanding nucleation from solution is crucial in many scientific fields & atomistic simulations can help, but choosing the right method is tricky. In this preprint we review applicability & insights attainable with different MD-based approaches 1/3

I am very happy to share my first First-Author publication, now published in @JCIM_JCTC : https://t.co/xJzIjYYuvs We present a method to construct approximations of expensive CVs, that can be used in enhanced sampling simulations and show how to recover the analytical FESs.

New research from Warwick and @OfficialUoM has found that perfect graphene crystals are permeable to protons - and that protons are strongly accelerated around nanoscale wrinkles and ripples in the crystal. Read the full story:
warwick.ac.uk
Researchers from The University of Warwick and the University of Manchester have finally solved the long-standing puzzle of why graphene is so much more permeable to protons than expected by theory.
