Husband, Dad, Boy Scout leader. I do nukes and missile defense at @Heritage. Think about China, Springsteen, and backpacking trips too much. Views are my own.

Very proud to share the documentary: Breathtaking. It examines the implications of the 🇨🇳 nuke breakout. Thanks to @SenatorFischer; @RepChipRoy; @RLHeinrichs; ADM Chas Richard, Frank Miller, Bob Joseph, and the @Heritage team for making this happen.
Let’s say the President of the United States wanted to respond to a Chinese nuclear attack on the American Air Force base in Guam by targeting a similar Chinese site with our own tactical nuclear weapon. We probably couldn’t do so if we tried. Our new mini-documentary explores

It's actually worse than that. Far too often, the disarmament crowd blames the US for Chinese, Russian, North Korean nuclear expansion--despite US please for arms control. We're the only ones with any agency in the minds of the disarmament crowd, and we are therefore to blame.
I find it pretty interesting that the text of this new initiative does not mention China by name. Disarmament groups once again treat the United States, Russia, and China as all equally culpable - disgusting moral relativism.

This is exactly right. The arms control community, through posts like the one @tshugart3 calls out from @DarylGKimball, undersells the Chinese nuclear threat, to the detriment of the US.
“China is expanding its nuclear weapons systems.” Saying that—and only that, about China, constitutes the biggest understatement I’ve seen in a while. China now has more ICBM launchers than the U.S. (and has a “no-limits” partnership with Russia). It’s engaged in—by far— the.

Clearly RF has made the opposite conclusion: That it is in their interest to forgo additional arms control with the US. Which is why they've told us to "kick rocks" whenever we've asked. Our choice is simple: We expand our arsenal or we keep hoping they will change their mind.
New START, the last remaining treaty limiting the world’s two largest nuclear arsenals expires in 210 days. Will Rubio and Lavrov talk about what comes next? It is in both countries’ interests to prevent unbridled n-competition:

This, by @RC_Greenway, is maybe one of the top 3 issues facing the Department of Defense today. We have to get after this issue. .
Congress mandated a 355 ship Navy in 2018. It’s more likely we need 381 as China’s Navy is expected to reach 395 ships by year’s end and 435 by 2030. ⚓️ We started the year with a 296 ship Navy. Today we have 293. ⚓️ OBBB + President’s Budget Request funds the purchase of 19

I like how @russianforces keeps trying to move the discussion away from the point that started all this: my assertion that he's an anti-American shill & a Kremlin apologist:. "Right now, let's get back to your "the US should get warfighting capability, just as RU and CN -".
@RealBobPeters @krakek1 Yes, PRC & RF have agency. But so does the US. Extended deterrence is a topic for another conversation. Right now, let's get back to your "the US should get warfighting capability, just as RU and CN -

Fully, fully support @usairforce and @northropgrumman efforts to increase B-21 production rate. An incredibly important issue.

And people wonder why I often think that @russianforces is an anti-American shill for the Kremlin and Beijing. 👇.
Why do all nuclear war scenarios start with someone firing missiles at the US and the US president having to make that decision in so many minutes? I think it's totally unrealistic - the US will strike first if it ever comes to it.
