#RE has faced decades of neglect, leading to an ongoing shortage of trained teachers and a postcode lottery of provision. Including RE in the national curriculum is now an opportunity to end this. @NATREupdate @RECouncil @DeborahWeston #teamRE #reteacher

On @BBCR4Sunday a DfE spokesperson said that RE trainee numbers are up — true, due to the bursary they’ve now scrapped! The rise proves incentives work. Removing them will undo the recovery.

A quarter of a million students take a GCSE in RS. Despite this, half of those delivering the lessons mainly teach another subject. Discussing the big questions in life is a vital part of young people’s education. #Worldviews #TeamRE @KatieKates_84

GCSE RS remains one of the most widely taken subjects at KS4. 249,422 students took a GCSE RS this year. We urgently need more specialist RE teachers to ensure every child gets access to high-quality RE. #Religion #Worldviews #TeamRE @KatieKates_84

RS A-level entries have dipped slightly (1.3%). With an ongoing shortage of subject specialists, @NATREupdate and the @REcouncil are warning that more and more young people who want to take the subject at A-Level are unable to. #TeamRE #Worldviews #religion @TheREpodcast1

A-level RS entries have held steady this year, with a lower decline than most other humanities. RS allows young people to explore the religious and non-religious worldviews that continue to influence our society. #TeamRE #Worldviews #Religion @TheREPodcast1
